Today we entered Yellowstone National Park through the south entrance. The towering peaks of the Grand Teton Mountains were a constant companion. We enjoyed the drive with their magnificent backdrop.
Our first stop was the popular Old Faithful Geyser. Anticipation was building as I imagined the geyser erupting, sending a plume of steam and water high into the air... Upon arrival, however, we discovered that we had missed the last eruption by only a few minutes. Given the geyser's highly predictable schedule, with each eruption occurring approximately every 90 minutes, we decided not to wait and moved on to our next destination, Grand Prismatic Spring.
The drive to Grand Prismatic Spring brought us to a long line to park on the side of the road. We chose a trail of less than half a mile and soon reached the Grand Prismatic Spring Overlook. Here, the spring revealed its stunning, balanced beauty: bright rings of orange, yellow, and green surrounding deep blue water. This vibrant display of color filled us with awe.
We continued our drive and checked into the Canyon Lodge & Cabins. After early dinner, we began to explore the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone before the sunset. Personally I believe that the Canyon truly embodies the dramatic, solid, and stable landscapes of the park. The sight of the canyon, with its dynamic interplay of rock, water, and light, created a memory deeply etched in my mind.
As the day drew to a close, the Lodge's rustic charm and cozy atmosphere provided the perfect setting to unwind after a day of exploration. Sitting in the grand lobby and reflecting on our adventures, I felt a deep sense of contentment. I believe the essence of nature we explored today illustrates a few important qualities in life: being reliable and predictable, balanced, and steady no matter what lies ahead.
My friend, let's enjoy this moment on the journey in spirit. No life reflection is needed tonight ;-)
It is not easy to drive a whole day, experience so much and still have the energy to write such reflection for continuous journey. You've done a phenomenal job!
By the way, if your data service is from AT&T, you will have a hard time connecting to the Internet in the park. Good excuse to disconnect from others.
