A Fictional Leap: Time Traveling Between Being and Doing
An Existential Adventure with Leonardo, Sartre, and a Latte in Hand
Dear Bold Adventurers,
Starting today, in two weeks' time, I'll be doing something I never thought I'd do: publishing my first fiction, The Trio’s Odyssey: NY and Beyond, - one chapter a day - in my newsletter, Being Bold. Yes, you heard me right. So is it still a newsletter? I'd say it's evolving. Think of it as Being Bold: The Serialized Edition. It's a leap for me, and maybe it will be for you. Whether you're here for the adventure, the humor, or just to see what kind of mess I've gotten myself into this time, I'm thrilled to have you along for the ride.
If you're scratching your head and wondering, "Wait, Kefei is writing fiction now?", you're not alone. I've always fancied myself a non-fiction writer (would-be?), grounding my thoughts in the tangible, the reflective, the here and now of koffeemocha.com. But then again, why not try a twist? Call it an existential twist, if you like. After all, life itself often feels like a mixture of time travel fiction, philosophy and a touch of the absurd - so why not embrace it?
This fiction project, dear readers, began with an essay, in fact. You may remember it as Finding Balance Between Doing and Being: A Dialogue with Leonardo da Vinci in NYC. It was my attempt to imagine what Leonardo might say if he were sipping a latte with Jean-Paul Sartre (key figure in the philosophy of existentialism) and me in a café in the Big Apple. That essay planted the seed, and now we're diving into a sprawling story that takes those thoughts to the next level.
Here's what to expect:
A time travel fiction meets philosophy odyssey with a glowing artifact, surreal landscapes and three very opinionated thinkers.
Leonardo da Vinci championing doing, Jean-Paul Sartre arguing for being, and yours truly stuck in the middle trying to balance the two without spilling my coffee.
Daily chapters that will take you on an adventure of humor, introspection and the occasional existential crisis.
Why fiction? Well, why not? Sometimes the best way to explore deep truths is to enter the surreal. Fiction gives me the freedom to blend the speculative with the philosophical - and to let my imagination run wild. That is the essence of koffeemocha.
Mark your calendars for two weeks. One chapter a day. An exploration of being, doing, and everything in between. Let's see where this bold turn takes us.

P.S. If you're wondering if this is all a clever way to procrastinate on my non-fiction essays... you're absolutely right. But hey, balance, right? 😉
